The Battle of Aljubarotta was a major medieval battle in 1385, within the context of the One Hundred Years War, fought between two sovereigns, recently elected King of Portugal & the King of Castile.
The Center offers to its visitors a description of a medieval battle, using the most advance multimedia equipment available in Europe. This Center also provides a very instructive description of this historical period, not only in relation to Portugal, but also in relation to the main themes that characterized Europe, in the XIV and XV centuries. This is why the Center of Interpretation, together with the battlefield that surrounds it, is a point of interest for all with an interest in history.
Make your visit to CIBA an experience you would like to repeat. The Education Department has activities for all ages: visits to the battlefield, workshops, outdoor activities and much more! With so much to see and do, everyone will be entertained for hours, having fun and learning about Aljubarotta.

This Center of Interpretation is equipped with simultaneous translations to English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. Apart from its exposition areas, this Center also has a shop dedicated to this historical period, as well as a cafeteria, able to serve different types of meals. On the outside, in the battlefield, it also possible to rent a guide from the Center, or an audio guide, in order to learn more about this Battle.

Join this creative workshop that gives substance to the lessons of Aljubarotta and allows you to take home an object which embodies your experience, a memento of what you have learned.

When the Educational Service becomes a "laboratory of games", Aljubarotta is more fun. The Exploratorium is a house full of challenges, where families and the younger ones can discover the Middle Ages while having fun.
Medieval Machines Activity Park
Tuesday through Sunday
After watching the show in the comfort of the auditorium and visiting the exhibition, bring your children or students to the Medieval Activity Park to get them moving. You can play on a giant chessboard; build a wall or test your aim, shooting a crossbow. Access to the Park is open and permanent, and everything you will find here is associated with the medieval world. It is the ideal activity for anyone who wants to learn, while having fun.
